Lisbon: Where to Stay

Hotel Solar dos Poetas in Lisbon

Found my little Lisbon base and as a solo traveler, location was everything.

When I booked my stay at Solar dos Poetas, I knew I wanted somewhere central, safe and surrounded by everything I had carefully added to my very full itinerary (because yes…there was definitely planning involved!).

Perfectly positioned between Chiado and Bairro Alto, the hotel made exploring effortless. Mornings started with coffee just steps away, afternoons were for ticking off all the major attractions, viewpoints and boutiques, and evenings meant wandering to dinner without worrying about long journeys back.

As a solo traveller, there’s real comfort in stepping outside and having everything at your doorstep: lively streets, beautiful architecture, great food, while still staying in an area that feels safe and welcoming. I loved being able to head out early, come back to reset and then head straight back into the buzz of Lisbon within minutes. One of my favourite things to do in the evening was to enjoy a slice of cake and a hot chocolate in Cafe a Brasileira one of the oldest, most iconic cafes in Lisbon.

Solar dos Poetas is cozy, full of charm and feels warm and familiar at the end of a long day exploring. If you’re visiting Lisbon solo and want a central base that gives you independence and ease, this one’s a win 🖤

Happy Travels xoxo
