Rome: Ancient Rome & the Historic Core

Day 1

Morning

Colosseum

Start your day early to beat the crowds. Dive into the stories of gladiators and emperors in this iconic amphitheatre.

Stepping into the Colosseum is like traveling back in time to the heart of ancient Rome – a place where gladiators once battled, emperors watched from their grand seats, and roaring crowds filled the massive arena.

As you walk through its towering arches, you can almost hear the echoes of history whispering through the stones. The sheer scale of this architectural marvel is breathtaking, a testament to Roman ingenuity and ambition. Whether you’re standing in the underground chambers where warriors prepared for combat or gazing at the sunlit ruins from above, the Colosseum is more than just a historic site – it’s an experience that brings the past to life in the most thrilling way.

If there’s one place in Rome that truly captures the spirit of the Eternal City, this is it! And judging by the amount of pictures I have take of this structure this is without doubts my favourite place in Rome.

Roman Forum & Palatine Hill

Wander through the ruins of ancient temples and learn about Rome’s beginnings on Palatine Hill.

Once the epicentre of political, religious, and social life, the Forum is a breathtaking maze of ruins where towering columns, grand basilicas, and ancient temples whisper stories of emperors, senators, and everyday Romans who once walked these very paths.

Just above, Palatine Hill offers a serene escape with sweeping views of the city, lush gardens, and the remains of imperial palaces. Legend has it that this is where Romulus founded Rome, making it one of the most historically significant spots in the city. Whether you’re a history buff, a photography lover, or simply someone who enjoys being surrounded by centuries of stories, exploring these ancient wonders is an unforgettable experience that truly brings Rome’s past to life.
