On our recent visit to the Isle of Arran, we had the pleasure of staying at the Douglas Hotel, a charming and strategically located gem right by the ferry terminal in Brodick. From the moment we stepped off the boat, it was clear that this hotel was perfectly positioned to serve as the ultimate base for exploring everything the island has to offer.

Our stay was made even sweeter by the fact that we had an Itison voucher, which meant our room was only £79 for the night. To our delight, upon arrival, we were upgraded to an executive room with a garden view! The room itself was spacious, elegantly decorated, and came with a peaceful outdoor space, perfect for relaxing after a day of island adventures.

The Douglas Hotel’s location is ideal for visitors keen to explore Arran. Whether you want to hike up Goatfell, visit Brodick Castle, or take a scenic drive to the island’s quieter spots like Lochranza or Machrie Moor, everything is within easy reach. The ferry terminal being just a short walk away made our arrival and departure stress-free, and the hotel’s central position in Brodick gave us easy access to local shops, cafes, and restaurants.
But what truly made our stay special was the staff. From check-in to check-out, everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly and accommodating. They made sure we had everything we needed, and their local knowledge helped us make the most of our time on the island. The warm hospitality we experienced is one of the reasons we’ll definitely be back.
If you’re planning a trip to the Isle of Arran, the Douglas Hotel should be at the top of your list. With its unbeatable location, stylish rooms, and welcoming staff, it’s the perfect place to stay, whether it’s your first visit to the island or your fifteenth.
We can’t wait for our next trip back!
