Are you looking for a weekend escape filled with dramatic coastlines, charming villages, and delicious local fare? Then look no further than the Isle of Mull, Scotland’s second-largest Inner Hebrides island.
Getting There
I begun my journey to Mull with a scenic drive through Inveraray, a picturesque village known for its Georgian architecture and stunning natural beauty. Stopped for a few hours to explore Inveraray Castle, the harbor, and the award-winning Inveraray Jail museum.

Next, continued to Oban, a seafood paradise where you can visit McCaig’s Tower, Dunollie Castle and the Oban Distillery. I treated myself to a meal at The Waterfront Fishouse before taking the ferry operated by Caledonian MacBrayne to Craignure Bay on Mull.

My Isle of Mull itinerary included:
✨ Calgary Bay Beach: pristine white sand and clear waters make this beach a haven for relaxation.

✨ Wildlife Encounter: While a boat trip to the Treshnish Isles for puffin spotting and Fingal’s Cave was on my agenda, the weather had other plans. Instead, I enjoyed a mini road trip, marveling at the island’s wildlife roaming freely and getting lost in the process…even managed to take this stunning picture when finally the rain stopped and the sky was a gorgeous blue (lasted for approximately 5 minutes!).

✨ Quaint Village: Tobermory, with its colorful harbor, seaside walks, and local shops, is a charming village to base yourself in and one of my favourite places in Scotland…it’s such a pretty place, don’t you agree!?

✨ Spa Day: The unpredictable Scottish weather forced another change of plans, leading me to the Isle of Mull & Iona Swimming Pool and Spa. It was a delightful indulgence and after walking here, there and everywhere a much needed rest for my legs!

✨ Glass Barn Cafe & Isle of Mull Cheese : This cafe is a haven for cheese lovers, offering a delicious food and the opportunity to purchase cheese souvenirs (mine didn’t survive the trip!). How pretty does it look?
